Ways to Help
Donate Money
Giving money is the best way to support the pantry. OFP has no paid staff, so your donations aren’t paying for salaries.
We buy most of our food through our regional food bank (FeedMore WNY) at a deep discount, so your dollar goes much further here than at the grocery store. Every $1 you give lets us put about $14 worth of food on our shelves. Here’s a real example. One week this summer, we ordered a delivery of 5,051 pounds of food. At grocery store prices, that food would have cost $9,619. FeedMore’s grants and partnerships covered most of the cost, so our out of pocket cost for that food was just $664.
FeedMore’s supplies vary throughout the year, so we sometimes use cash donations to buy what people ask for most, like milk and eggs, from local grocery stores.
Give online: Donate with credit card or PayPal
Mail a check: Make checks payable to Olean Food Pantry and mail to 8 Leo Moss Drive, Olean, NY 14760.
Drop off Cash: Mail them or drop them off at the pantry during open hours.
The Olean Food Pantry is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Your donation is fully tax-deductible as allowed by law.
Donate Food
Food donations help fill gaps on our shelves. Right now, we especially need:
• 100% juice
• Canned fruit
• Spaghetti sauce
• Pancake mix
• Cheese
• Crackers and graham crackers
Drop off donations at the pantry during open hours (Mondays 12:30 – 4:30 PM, Fridays 10 AM – 2 PM). You can also drop off food at the Olean Public Library anytime it’s open.
Organize a Fundraiser
A bake sale, a dress-down day at work, a birthday fundraiser on Facebook. Any of these can make a real difference. Since each dollar buys about $14 worth of food here, a $100 fundraiser puts about $1,400 worth of groceries on our shelves. Planning something? Call or email us so we can say thank you!
Organize a Food Drive
Churches, schools, businesses and clubs can all run a food drive. Before you start, please call or email us. We’ll tell you what we’re running low on so your drive brings in what we need. If you’re collecting a large amount, contact us ahead of time and we’ll set up a drop-off.
Volunteer
Thank you for wanting to volunteer! We have a strong volunteer team right now and do not need new volunteers at this time. That changes from time to time, though. Join our volunteer interest list and we’ll email you when we need help.
In the meantime, see the other ways to help on this page. To find other volunteer opportunities in the area, visit the United Way Volunteer Hub.
